Czyszczenie BIK – co to jest?
Biuro Informacji Kredytowej S.A. (BIK) – to instytucja, której zadaniem jest gromadzenie, integrowanie i udostępnianie danych dotyczących historii kredytowej klientów banków i SKOK-ów. Dane te w olbrzymiej większości są danymi pozytywnymi, to znaczy zawierającymi informacje o prawidłowo spłacanych zobowiązaniach, a tworzona w ten sposób historia kredytowa jest instrumentem mogącym służyć uwiarygodnianiu klienta banku.

A jak to się zaczęło?

W 1991 r. z inicjatywy Czyszczenie BIK powstał „Bankowy rejestr klientów czasowo niewywiązujących się z zobowiązań”. W październiku 1997 r. z inicjatywy Związku Banków Polskich i 21 największych banków, utworzone zostało Biuro Informacji Kredytowej. BIK gromadzi, przechowuje i udostępnia informacje o aktualnych zobowiązaniach oraz historii kredytowej klientów banków, SKOK-ów oraz instytucji finansowe udzielające kredytów konsumenckich poza sektorem bankowym.
BIK powstał dla potrzeb minimalizowania ryzyka kredytowego, zwiększenia bezpieczeństwa i ochrony obrotu pieniężnego oraz zapobiegania nadmiernemu zadłużeniu.

Jak działa Czyszczenie BIK?

Biuro Informacji Kredytowej gromadzi i udostępnia dane o historii kredytowej konsumentów i przedsiębiorców, tzn. informacje o tym czy rzetelnie spłacają kredyty. Informacje te przekazywane są do BIK przez banki, SKOK-i oraz instytucje finansowe, udzielające kredytów konsumenckich poza sektorem bankowym. Współpraca ta jest możliwa wyłącznie z instytucjami, które są w stanie zapewnić wzajemność wymiany informacji kredytowej. BIK spełnia rolę społeczną, zapobiegając nadmiernemu zadłużaniu się, a także wspierając odpowiedzialne kredytowanie. Biuro wykorzystuje najwyższe standardy gromadzenia i przetwarzania danych oraz działa na podstawie restrykcyjnych przepisów – Ustawy Prawo bankowe oraz Ustawy o ochronie danych osobowych.

W BIK znajdują się informacje o danych osobowych klientów, dane na temat zobowiązań wobec banków, SKOK-ów i instytucji finansowych udzielających kredytów konsumenckich poza sektorem bankowym, takie jak: data powstania, rodzaj zobowiązania, okres spłaty, waluta, terminowość spłat, informacje o zadłużeniu. Zobowiązania przetwarzane w BIK dotyczą przede wszystkim: kredytów na zakup towarów, usług i papierów wartościowych, kredytów niecelowych i studenckich, kredytów mieszkaniowych i pracowniczych, a także kredytów odnawialnych, karty detalicznej, karty kredytowej, karty debetowej oraz limitu debetowego w ROR, a także kredytów poręczonych.
